High-Pitched Squealing: The Wear Indicator Warning

Most OEM ceramic brake pads feature a small metal tab called an acoustic wear indicator. When pad thickness drops below 3mm, this tab touches the rotating rotor disc, creating a squeaking noise. This means it is time for a pad replacement before the rotor gets damaged.

Metallic Grinding: Metal-on-Metal Contact

If you hear a harsh grinding noise, the friction material on your brake pads has worn away completely. The steel backing plate is now scoring directly into the brake rotor disc, creating deep grooves and reduced stopping power.

When Is Rotor Skimming Recommended?
